OG's go down fighting

The OGs went down 5-30 against old Halesonians in the cup on saturday. The ogs started well and had a penalty straight from the kick-off but Armitage missed from the halfway line. The OGs forwards were dominant in the opening exchanges, Late call up at scrum half John Dyer driving them forward. With constant pressure James Hinde was unlucky not to score, while the pressure meant the opposition gave away several penalties, however Armitage was unable to add any points, missing 2 kick able chances. Even when the opposition kicked clear of their line, the OGs back 3 of Jamie bell, Stuart Arscott, and Alex Friend ran the ball back strongly. Eventually the ogs pressure told and from a scrappy lineout Brad Barnes, charged down a kick and Nigel Ogden pounced on the ball to score a rare try. Again Armitage failed with the kick. Old Halesonians did however add one score before half time when their backs broke in open play to score making the score 5-5 at the break.
The second half was a different story, it was Old Halesonians who had all the ball and pressure and in the first ten minutes of the second half they scored and converted two tries. The Ogs did fight back for a time especially when the opposition had a man sent to the sin bin, Alex Yates impressing in the centres but again the Halesonians defence held firm, The OGs made changes but with their pack tiring Halesonians added some late scores to make the final score 5-30.
The second team went away to Long Buckby second and came away 10-53 point winners. Keith Finson led the way with 4 tries . Other tries came from Ainsley, Saunders, Hanley,  and Neal Mckernan added a brace. Conversions came from Craddock 2, Saunders and Ainsley ( a kicking prop)!
