OG's put in good performance

The OGs 1st XV took on Kettering seconds in the East Northants cup on Sunday in appalling conditions. Kettering played with the slope and wind in the first half and soon went into a 5-0 lead. This was increased to 10-0 as the Kettering side looked to break loose. However the OGs began to gain the upper hand in the scrummages and had some good possession but were unable to make it count. Armitage missing their only penalty of the half. Kettering stretched their lead before half time with a converted try.
The second half was reduced to a war of attrition in the mud, Neither side being able to dominate, Kettering went close but the ball was knocked on over the line, and again Armitage missed a penalty. The OGs went close from a five metre scrum, when they pushed Kettering back but the ball was fumbled by No 8 Brian King at the vital moment. The second half remained scoreless final score 0-17.
The seconds and thirds however had more success on Saturday against Northampton Casuals. The seconds won 20-7 with tries from Lee Johnson and the returning Giles Reynolds, who had not played this season due to injury. Martin Snow was immaculate with the boot, converting both tries and adding 2 penalties.
The third team also won 31-24, with tries from Ivan Wildman, Karl Bramswell, Tim York, Glen Roberts and Sean Elston. Pete Moore added three conversions.
